Inexpensive, easy to install. Will give you all local UHF (and maybe VHF) channels.
Local VHF/UHF (Ottawa)
CM3016.
This antenna is inexpensive, lightweight, easy to assemble and rated at 30-45 miles. A rotor may be required to aim at Camp Fortune or Manotick transmission towers.
Local UHF and VHF-Hi
CM4228.
In most areas this should allow you to receive all future local digital stations. In Ottawa, Global may be a problem if it stays on 6. Even then Global may work.
Local VHF (or a VHF add-on)
Delhi VIP-302SR.
Have some in stock. A very good Canadian made antenna. Not too large, yet has good gain on VHF-lo and very good gain on VHF-hi. Some even use this antenna for DXing VHF
DXing UHF
The CM4228 is one of the best all around UHF antenna for deep fringe reception. Combine this with a low noise amp such as the Channel Master 7777.
If you really want to try for remote stations you can try stacking two for a possible extra 2-3dB gain!
DXing UHF (Ottawa area)
Winegard hd-8800 8-bay and Channel Master 7777 pre-amp.
In the Ottawa area the distant US UHF channels possible to some include 18,23 & 38. This includes CBS, FOX & PBS. The HD-8800 is one of the best antennas between UHF 14 and 35.
DXing VHF/UHF
A Channel Master CM6971 deep fringe antenna and Channel Master CM7777 pre-amp is the best way to go.
The CM6971 is a very large antenna with good reception across all the VHF and UHF band.
DXing VHF/UHF (Ottawa area)
Combine two antennas, the Winegard YA-1713 VHF-hi yagi and a Winegard hd-8800 8-bay antenna with a Channel Master 7777 pre-amp.
In the Ottawa area the distant US channels possible to some include 7,18,23 & 38. The YA-1713 will give good gain on channel 7 and the HD-8800 is one of the best antenna between UHF 14 and 35. The Channel Master 7777 pre-amp will combine both antennas without a combiner.
Ultimate Ottawa
Combine two antennas, the Delhi VIP-302SR and a Winegard hd-8800 8-bay antenna with a Channel Master 7777 pre-amp.
Point the 302 at Manotick or Camp Fortune, point the HD-8800 at Massena New York. The VHF antenna will give you excellent quality on VHF where Global/CTV and Radio-Canada will probably end up. The UHF antenna will give you the best chance on distant US channels (PBS, CBS, FOX) including 18,23 & 38. It should also easily pick up the rest of the local UHF stations. The Channel Master 7777 pre-amp will combine both antennas without a combiner.
